One, the type of floor drain
At present, the types of floor drains on the market are divided into materials, mainly cast iron, PVC, aluminum alloy, stainless steel, brass and other materials. Cast iron floor drain is a product commonly used in early my country. The price is cheap, but the appearance is rough, easy to hang dirty and rust, and it is not easy to clean. It is now an obsolete product;
PVC floor drain is a product after the cast iron floor drain, and it has also been widely used. It is low-priced, light in weight, not resistant to scratches, poor physical stability when exposed to heat and cold, and is easily deformed. It is a low-grade product;
Aluminum alloy floor drains are mid-range in price, light in weight, but rough in surface, and have a small market share. There are also zinc alloy floor drains. This type of alloy material is brittle and low in strength. If used improperly for a long time, the panel will break;
The stainless steel floor drain is moderately priced, beautiful in style, and has a high market share. The stainless steel plate is integrally cast and rolled without electroplating, but it should be noted that the material is divided into 304 stainless steel and 202 stainless steel. The former will not rust and the quality It is higher than the latter, so ask beforehand when buying; the copper floor drain has a heavy weight and a good appearance. It can be processed through various processes such as plating, nickel plating, wire drawing, and antique copper. The luxury and high-end floor drains on the market are basically copper. , But it should be noted that the electroplating industry is strictly restricted due to environmental protection reasons. Some copper floor drains have a thin chromium plating layer, and the surface of the floor drain will rust over time.
Floor drains can be divided into functional functions, including ordinary shower floor drains, washing machine floor drains, dual-purpose floor drains, hand basins, kitchen sink drains special odor-resistant drain joints, and odor-resistant floor drain cores for floor drain modification. Floor drains can be divided into two categories based on its structural principle: water-sealed floor drains and non-water-sealed floor drains (previously called air-sealed, but some people have suggested that it is inaccurate). The following two types of floor drains will be introduced in detail.
2. Traditional water-sealed floor drain
The traditional water-sealed floor drain structure is a bell-jar type, which is like a buckle bowl structure that is buckled on the drain pipe opening to form a "U"-shaped trap. The "water seal" in the trap is used to achieve a sealing effect.
The advantages of traditional water-sealed floor drains: low price, simple structure of the water seal, the biggest advantage of water-sealed floor drains is that as long as there is water, it can ensure the deodorization effect. The water seal is based on water to seal off the odor. It's relatively safe.
Disadvantages of traditional water-sealed floor drain:
1. Slow drainage speed is a major drawback of traditional water-sealed floor drains, especially deep water-sealed floor drains, and the drainage speed will be affected to a certain extent. The drainage of the floor drain with this structure must pass through the lower and upper two narrow loops with 180° turns. The gap can only be drained, and the phenomenon of poor drainage is easy to occur. When the drainage volume is large (such as using a washing machine or bathing drainage), water may temporarily accumulate.
2. The structure of the traditional floor drain is unreasonable. The water in the water seal is very easy to dry up, and it is easy to be sucked and destroyed by the negative pressure formed in the drainage pipe system. The floor drain of the water seal must be kept with water. Once the water in the water seal dries up, it will cause the deodorization function to fail and make the odor in the drainage pipe return to the room.
Generally, shallow water-sealed floor drains have poor water sealing ability. If they are not used for a long time, or the indoor temperature is high after the weather is cold and heated, the water in the floor drain will evaporate. The sealed floor drain can only keep the water seal for a few days longer than the shallow water sealed floor drain, but the deepening of the water seal will cause more serious dirt deposits in the water seal.
3. The traditional water-sealed floor drain has poor self-cleaning ability and is easy to catch hair and sludge. If it is not cleaned frequently and the use time is long, a lot of impurities and dirt will accumulate in the water, even if there is water in the floor drain, it will Causes odor to emanate.
Due to the narrow cross-section of the traditional water-sealed floor leakage, a large number of solid impurities and viscous substances in the sewage, such as sludge, hair, cloth strips, etc., are very easy to stick and settle in the "U"-shaped trap, and the water cannot be washed away. It is inconvenient to clean up and can easily cause blockage.
Although floor drain water seals can seal off the odor in the sewers, they cannot stop germs and cockroaches in underground pipes, which seriously affects the environment and people's health.
4. The traditional water-sealed floor drain can’t solve the contradiction between inserting the washing machine pipe and the water seal. The original deep-water-sealed washing machine floor drain is directly connected to the drain pipe, and there is no water seal in the middle, so that there is no problem with connecting the drain. Harmful gases and breeding insects and bacteria will directly enter the washing machine through the drain pipe. If the sewage of the washing machine is drained through the water seal, although the floor leakage to the washing machine can be solved, the drainage will not be smooth, especially the instantaneous drainage of the washing machine is very large , There will be water overflow.
5. Installing a traditional deep-water sealed floor drain needs to raise the ground. Because the deep-water sealed floor drain deepens the depth of the water bend, it is necessary to raise the floor of the floor drain when installing, and the floor drain must be at the lowest point in the room to drain effectively. It means that the floor of the entire room must be raised accordingly, which is the disadvantage of installing a deep-water seal floor drain.
3. New water-sealed floor drain
Whether the internal structure of the floor drain is reasonable determines the ability of the floor drain to drain and deodorize. In order to solve the shortcomings of the traditional water-sealed floor drain, the manufacturer of the new floor drain has made a thorough improvement to the internal structure of the floor drain under the premise of ensuring the water seal height of 50mm. The traditional water-sealed floor drain The water traps are all on the sewer pipe. The improved new type water-sealed floor drain inserts the water trap into the sewer pipe. This not only solves the contradiction between the depth of the water seal and the height of the ground, but also improves the deodorization of the water seal. Ability, but also to ensure the unobstructed drainage. Here are a few new types of deep-water sealed floor drains.
1. "Inverted bell" type water-sealed floor drain:
Generally, the water trap of the traditional water-sealed floor drain is a bell-jar type. The water flows in from around the bell, and then drains into the sewer from the center of the bell. This kind of floor drain has an "inverted bell"-shaped trap, and the water is drained from the floor. The center flows into the inverted bell, and then overflows from the periphery of the bell into the sewer.
This inverted bell-shaped floor drain overcomes the disadvantage that the deeper the water seal, the more difficult the drainage. The use of the siphon principle not only increases the drainage speed, but also overcomes the siphon effect generated in the pipeline and destroys the floor drain when a large amount of drainage is discharged from the drainage pipe. The phenomenon of the water seal effectively protects the sealing effect of the floor drain, and will prevent the water seal from drying up for a doubled time. This inverted bell design makes the drain of the washing machine pipe water sealed to achieve a complete deodorant effect.
The bell jar of the floor drain trap is connected with the floor drain core through three small claws. This structure is easy to be entangled with filamentous dirt such as hair, and the floor drain core needs to be cleaned frequently. In the past, the return bend bell of the Jiajia’an floor drain was fixed and detachable with a screw buckle and the floor drain. However, during the cleaning process, the plastic bell cover fell off and fell into the sewer. After the manufacturer discovered this problem, the floor drain core was removed. The improvement is to fix the bell jar and the floor drain together, but the structure that the bell jar cannot be disassembled makes cleaning more convenient than before.
2. "Eccentric" water-sealed floor drain:
This kind of eccentric floor drain has "fragrance" and "bangge", and the water return bend is built into the drain pipe. The floor drain core is made of engineering plastics. The structure is simple and the design is ingenious. It can reach deep water with a small amount of water. The effect of sealing is said that the water will not dry for 3 months (the manufacturer is more conservative and says that it can be kept for two months without adding water).
Old-fashioned floor drains store water on the ground. Although there is more water, the cross-sectional area of the water seal is also relatively large, and the water evaporates faster. If there are dirty things in the water for a long time, it will be easy to smell. On the other hand, Bangge’s floor leak seals little water, and the cross-sectional area of the water seal is also small, less than half of the 50th sewer pipe, and it is inserted in the sewer pipe below the ground, so the water volatilizes much slower, that is, it is stored in the water. It has a smell and will be less volatile.
Four, common problems and solutions
(1) The use of unqualified floor drains with a water seal height of less than 50mm is likely to cause drying and blockage, and loss of odor barrier function. Qualified products should be used. For reliability, a trap should be added under the floor drain.
(2) The bell-shaped floor drain is used too much, and it is used in public toilets, large kitchens, and sinks in canteens. These places have a lot of scum and are easily clogged, and they often need to be washed. It is recommended that public toilets use grilles and traps; large kitchens use drainage trenches plus grills; canteen sinks add movable nets to isolate slag, make traps to isolate odors and add oil traps; bathrooms and kitchens should use net-frame floor drains ; There is no floor drain in the family kitchen.
(3) If the floor drain is installed too high, it will affect the drainage function; if it is installed too low, it will affect the appearance of the ground. Before installing the drain socket, the floor drain specification and the thickness of the ground decoration layer should be accurately understood, and the reasonable elevation of the drain socket should be calculated.(If there is any infringement, please contact to delete)
